Interested in a Drive Trip from Salida to Wyoming? If you want to check out a neat little uberwestern town (Population c. 30,000), I’d recommend taking the 4.5 hour drive north to Laramie, Wyoming. It’s somewhere between present day hipster and lost in 1890. The airbnb I stayed in was just a block up from their old theater, the Wyo, which the town is trying hard to revive. Sweet lil place for sure!
Glenwood Springs, Colorado, has several fine hot spring options, but if you want to get away from the highway and soak in undeveloped spring pools, look for South Canyon Hot Springs. Just a few miles west of town and totally free, it attracts a diverse group of hippies, local workers, and through travelers.
Open mic night at the new Salida distillery!! Every Wednesday. Sign up starts at four, and the magic happens from 5 to 7. Spoken word and poetry presentations welcome as well. Come grab a happy hour special and check out Salida’s local talent!
Tonight’s full moon, called the Wolf Moon, will be visible shortly after sundown. It’s a good night to get out there in the hills and ski by snow-reflected moonlight, no headlamps required.
